Writing As A Self-Care Therapy.
How writing self-help articles helped me and why you should try it too
“Writing is a therapy,” we hear it every now and then. Have you ever wondered why we call it therapy? I mean, from an external point of view, it is just ink on papers or the mere use of words. Well, it becomes your therapy when you find joy in the mere use of words. My purpose in writing this piece is to help you find your therapy and express how writing balanced my emotions. Here is how writing has worked for me as a therapy, and why you should try it too.
The Solace I Found in Personal Development Blogs:
The definition of mental peace is different for everyone. So, therapy is also different for everyone. For me, I found my solace in self-help articles. Yeah, I am well aware that there’s a division between readers that read self-help books and those that don’t. It is ironic that we call self-help books a waste of time and nothing but motivational quotes on one side. And on the other side, we talk about mental health being one of society’s biggest issues.
For me, self-help articles are a good vent. They help me remind myself to change my thinking patterns and keep a strong belief that things would happen with my dedication and constant faith in them.
Why Writing is More Beneficial Than Reading:
While writing, I found a bulk of information and a variety of ideas for a single issue, which I had to go through for writing a good piece of article. Obviously, everyone goes through a list of issues in their life, but most of the time, we just suppress our emotions and move on, which is not right. When we go through the internet to find the solution to our issues, we read one or two articles and then just leave the rest for someday else that never comes.
But in writing, we go pages and pages for the research part and collect a good piece of information in our mind. The same I did. But I never knew it would help me balance my own emotions without even me knowing.
The Lesson I Learned From Self-Help Articles:
There’s a series of information that I could write for this part. But to keep it short, let me explain it with the help of a quote:
“There are two ways to live: you can live as if nothing is a miracle; you can live as if everything is a miracle.”
(Albert Einstein)
The whole scenario changed from writing for money to writing for self-therapy. The above quote is doing justice with all I wanted to say. So, the thing is, whatever we do is the result of our inner thoughts or our mind, whatever you call it. It all depends on your mindset, how you train it. I am going to keep this quote with me for life.
How Self-Help Articles are Helpful to You:
We’re looking for happiness either directly or indirectly, right? And without inner peace and satisfaction, you’re unable to enjoy this gift of God we all call life. There are going to be days where you are going to regret those moments you spent being sad. You wasted those days.
Yes, it is right that in this modern world, everyone is well-aware of their issues and “how-to” tools for help, but you need to keep reminding yourself instead of suppressing your flowing thoughts, and self-help articles are an excellent reminder to you. It doesn’t matter either you write or read them. They are a good vent.
I would love to end this with a short reminder that “Stop being hard on yourself and create a “magical someday” of yours.”
Let me know your opinions about writing and self-help articles, how they helped you.
